After uploading our footage from Day 4, we spent some valuable time self-assessing our work and came to the conclusion that it was necessary to re-film certain scenes. However, to ensure that we have a variety of footage to choose from in the editing process and to help maintain continuity, we decided to film everything we had previously shot at Susie's house, again. In this case, less is definitely not more!
Susie's House (Narrative)
Our main priorities for today were:
- To allow plenty of time to capture all of the desired footage.
- Use the tripod for the 'Breakfast' and 'Chess' scene - obvious shaky footage does not coincide with the slow tempo of the song and poignant 'happy memories' that are being conveyed.
- When filming the 'Fight Scene', create juxtaposition-tension between the slow, emotional music with fast, chaotic camera movement to signify a heated argument (the contrapuntal sound will add further tension).
- Film the 'Photo Scene' of Olly browsing through photos of himself and Charlotte on his mobile, as opposed to real-life photos (this concept and the use of digital technology relates to a teenage demographic).
- Ensure 'Charlotte's Return' is believable and cathartic. Use close-ups of feet walking down the corridor (side-angle and front) to create tension.
Today's pick-up shot plan went extremely well. I feel a lot more satisfied with the collective amount of high-quality footage we now have to work with.
